In Zemst, we equipped a home with an efficient duo: a Buderus GB192i.2 gas condensing boiler for the heating, paired with an Atlantic Explorer 240 L thermodynamic water heater for the domestic hot water. Each job is handled by the appliance that does it most efficiently.

The challenge: a compact installation

The main constraint here was space: the room was tight and the ceiling low, leaving little room to work with. Fitting a 240 L tank in those conditions takes more than standard work — it calls for a carefully thought-out layout. We found the right arrangement and installed the whole system, boiler and thermodynamic water heater, in a remarkably compact footprint. It's a good reminder that even in cramped spaces there's almost always a solution — it just sometimes takes a bit of ingenuity, and that's exactly where Ecowatt makes the difference.

Why split heating and hot water?

A condensing boiler is excellent for heating but less ideal for producing hot water all year round. By entrusting the hot water to a thermodynamic water heater — which draws its energy from the ambient air — you cut the cost of your DHW while the boiler focuses on heating, modulating its output to match the home's real needs. In summer it's even clearer: the hot water is produced entirely by the thermodynamic unit, so the boiler never has to fire up and cycle on and off just to make hot water — which spares it wear and extends its lifespan. The result: lower bills, summer and winter.

The benefits

  • Efficient heating: the GB192i.2 condensing boiler with wide modulation adapts to the home's real needs.
  • Hot water for less: the Atlantic Explorer makes DHW from the air — up to 3× less energy than an electric boiler.
  • Subsidy up to €1,200 for the thermodynamic water heater in Flanders.
  • Remote control of the boiler via the My Buderus app.
  • A clean, durable installation: neat copper pipework.

Subsidies: up to €1,200

In Flanders, the thermodynamic water heater qualifies for a subsidy of up to €1,200, depending on your region and income. Combined with the energy savings, the investment quickly pays off.
