Urgent hybrid oil + heat pump installation in Vilvoorde — fitted in a week
Ecowatt NV
Buderus WLW176i air-to-water heat pump installed by Ecowatt in Vilvoorde

In Vilvoorde, we replaced an old oil installation with a hybrid system combining a Buderus air-to-water heat pump and an oil condensing boiler. And we did it in record time: barely a week between the customer's online request and a fully working installation.

An emergency handled in a week

The customer sent her request through our website on a Sunday. We came to quote on the Monday, she accepted the offer the same day, and we installed the system the following week. One week between a weekend request and a working hybrid system — a short timeline for a project of this size, made possible by handling requests directly. It's one of the areas where Ecowatt stands out: responding quickly and properly, even on sizeable projects.

Oil + heat pump: why this hybrid?

There's no gas main in this street, so a gas boiler wasn't an option. In Flanders, new oil boilers are generally no longer allowed — but where no gas network is available, an oil-based solution is still permitted. We therefore built a hybrid: the air-to-water heat pump covers most of the heating, capturing the heat present in the outside air, while the oil condensing boiler takes over on the coldest days and for peak demand. The result is a comfortable, future-proof installation that runs mainly on the heat pump and keeps the boiler as a powerful back-up.

Buderus Logano plus oil condensing boiler, storage tank and SoluCalc installed by Ecowatt in Vilvoorde

The installed solution

  • Buderus WLW176i air-to-water heat pump (outdoor unit): the main heat source, using energy from the outside air.
  • Buderus Logano plus KB195i.2-19 oil condensing boiler: a floor-standing, modulating condensing boiler that recovers the heat from its flue gases — the powerful back-up for the coldest days.
  • 200 L stainless-steel tank for the domestic hot water.
  • SoluCalc CO₂ water softener: protects the brand-new installation from limescale, while the water stays 100% drinkable.
  • Flue routed through the existing chimney and commissioning by a certified Buderus installer, with a 5-year warranty.

The benefits

  • Lower bills: the heat pump does most of the heating with energy from the air.
  • Comfort in all weather: the oil boiler guarantees full power on the coldest days.
  • A compliant solution where there is no gas: a permitted setup, future-ready around the heat pump.
  • Fast, reliable service: from request to commissioning in about a week.

Subsidies: up to €4,000

In Flanders, a hybrid heat pump qualifies for a subsidy of up to €4,000, depending on your income. Combined with the savings on your energy bill, it makes the investment far more affordable.
