Buderus GB192i.2 boiler and Atlantic Explorer heat-pump water heater installed in Wezembeek-Oppem by Ecowatt

In Wezembeek-Oppem, we replaced an old boiler with a Buderus GB192i.2 gas condensing wall boiler, paired with an Atlantic Explorer heat-pump water heater for hot water.

The context

The customer wanted reliable heating and more efficient hot water. We installed the top of the Buderus wall-boiler range, the GB192i.2, and a heat-pump water heater that produces hot water from the ambient air. The project was carried out in Wezembeek-Oppem.

The installed solution

  • Buderus GB192i.2-25 gas condensing wall boiler — the top of the Buderus wall-boiler range.
  • Very wide modulation: the boiler always delivers exactly the right output, for more comfort and savings.
  • Heating body protected by a special coating → greater durability and reliability.
  • Atlantic Explorer heat-pump water heater (240 L): it makes hot water from the air, connected to the boiler via the coil as backup.
  • Carefully insulated pipework → less heat loss, extra savings.
  • Remote control via the MX400 internet module (MyBuderus).

A safe bet

The GB192i.2 is one of the boilers we install most: our customers value it for its reliability. Wide modulation and a protected heating body mean stable comfort and a long service life.

Non-condensing to condensing: where the savings come from

Replacing an old non-condensing gas boiler with a condensing model like the GB192i.2 is where a large part of the savings comes from. A non-condensing boiler sends much of the heat from its flue gases straight outside; a condensing boiler recovers that heat by condensing the water vapour in the flue gases, which raises its efficiency well above 90%. In practice, the switch typically cuts gas consumption by around 15 to 30%, depending on the old boiler and how the heating system is set up — savings you see on every bill, season after season.

Subsidies: up to €1,200

In Flanders, a heat-pump water heater qualifies for a subsidy of up to €1,200, depending on your region and income. Combined with the energy savings, the investment quickly pays off.
